POLICY FOR REVOKING AND RESTRICTING MEMBERSHIPS TO OSFCI-SPONSORED EVENTS

I. SECURITY

A.
MEMBERSHIP SHALL BE IMMEDIATELY REVOKED FOR ANY OF THE FOLLOWING COMMITTED IN CONNECTION WITH AN OSFCI-SPONSORED FUNCTION:
1.
Theft.
2.
Assault and/or battery.
3.
Reckless and/or intentional endangerment of self or others.
4.
Dealing in controlled substances.
5.
Vandalism.
6.
Furnishing alcohol to minors.

B.
WARNING SHALL BE GIVEN FOR ANY OF THE FOLLOWING COMMITTED IN CONNECTION WITH AN OSFCI-SPONSORED FUNCTION:
1.
Intoxicated and disorderly in any public or convention areas.
2.
Negligent endangerment of self or others.
3.
Disruption of event activities.
4.
Any other activity deemed detrimental to the event by any event committee member or event security. Such a decision is not a determination that this person is guilty of any criminal acts; it's simply that the likelihood reaches a level at which OSFCI feels to protect the convention OSFCI would want to have this person expelled.
MEMBERSHIP MAY BE REVOKED ON SECOND OFFENSE OF ANY OF THE ABOVE.

C.
MEMBERSHIP SHALL BE REFUSED TO ALL OSFCI EVENTS FOR THE PERIOD OF ONE YEAR FOR:
1.
Expulsion from an OSFCI event (see above).
2.
Multiple security problems as documented in the trouble logs and determined by a sub-committee appointed by the OSFCI Board of Directors.
3.
Damage to the hotel property where the OSCFCI sponsored event is taking place(and not having reached a settlement with the hotel).

II. FINANCIAL

A.
MEMBERSHIP SHALL BE REFUSED WHILE OUTSTANDING DEBTS EXIST IN REGARD TO:
1.
Non-payment to an OSFCI event, including the Susan C. Petrey Fund, by:
a.
Unauthorized attendance at the event, or,
b.
Returned check, such as NSF or stopped payment

B.
MEMBERSHIP SHALL BE REFUSED TO ALL OSFCI EVENTS AS LONG AS DEBT (as specified above) IS OUTSTANDING. IF A PERSON COMMITS MULTIPLE OFFENSES, MEMBERSHIP SHALL BE REFUSED FOR ALL OSFCI EVENTS FOR THE PERIOD OF ONE YEAR.

III. MISCELLANEOUS NOTES

A.
Membership can be revoked or denied according to the above policy by authorities assigned by event management.
B.
The one-year period listed above includes the following year's presentation of the event at which the person committed the offense, i.e. if the person is ejected from the 1986 OryCon, that person will be banned from all OSFCI sponsored events through the 1987 OryCon.
C.
Probationary status or special conditions may be placed on an individual's membership at the discretion of an event committee (such as requiring cash payment for membership).

IV. A PERSON WHOSE MEMBERSHIP IS REVOKED, DENIED, OR RESTRICTED MAY APPEAL TO THE FULL BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF OSFCI.

Passed by OSFCI Directors on September 29, 1986; revised June 23, 1997.

Amended by the OSFCI Board of Directors on January 24, 2000.
